The European Research Institute (ERI) is the hub for the University’s staff and students engaged in teaching, learning and research in the fields of European politics, economics, history, law, culture and society.

The University is a designated Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence in recognition of its extensive interdisciplinary and truly pan-European expertise, including EU institutions, old and new member states, Russia, the Balkans and the Wider Mediterranean.
An integral part of the ERI, The Graduate Centre for Europe (GCfE) is a postgraduate-led, cross-disciplinary entity. Founded in 2005, GCfE is an integral part of the European Research institute (ERI) and was established as a focus for graduate students working on Europe across the University.
